Richard Lindmark holds a Dispatcher I position with Columbia County 911. In
1979, after graduating from Chatham High School, Richard attended SUNY-Brockport, where he majored in criminal justice. He
started his career as a part time officer with the Chatham Police in 1983. During his time there he was promoted to the rank
of corporal. He was then hired by the Columbia County Sheriff's Department as a deputy in 1986, but remained in the
communications center by choice. For a brief time he worked as a deputy on the road, but soon went back to dispatching as it
was more rewarding to him.
Richard has been a volunteer firefighter since 1981. He is currently an active member of the Canaan Protective Fire Company.
He is a past commissioner of the Canaan Fire Company, a past member of the Red Rock Volunteer and East Chatham Fire Companies
as well as a past member of the Columbia County HAZMAT Response Team. Richard is also a life member of the Chatham Rescue
Squad.
