Tess Preusser started as a Columbia County 911 Dispatcher in November 1996 after a 20 year secretarial career in accounting.  In 1992, when the County began laying the groundwork for instituting the 911 System, Tess began inquiring about what qualifications were necessary to become a dispatcher.  By the time the notice for the exam was published, Tess had decided that this is what she wanted to do with her life.  Later that year she took and passed the 911 Emergency Dispatcher exam.  In 1996 Tess become a member of the Columbia County 911 team.

Tess has been a member of the Churchtown Fire Department since 1983, including 4 years as President.  She and her husband, Bob, live in the Town of Claverack. They have 2 daughters, Christie and Jenna, a son, Jamie and 5 grandchildren.
