Dana Petty came to Columbia County 911 in September 2007. Prior to his arrival here, Dana was employed as a Communications Specialist for the New York State Police at Troop K Headquarters in Poughkeepsie. In December 2018, he was promoted to the position of "911 Emergency Dispatcher I", responsible for supervisory duties and helping to train new hires. Dana is also an APCO certified Public Safety Telecommunicator Basic Dispatcher course instructor and the agencies GIS mapping administrator.
Dana relocated to Columbia County in 1999 after serving eight years in the U.S. Navy where his last duties saw him assigned to the Information Technology Department at NAS Brunswick, Maine.
Dana has been a member of Livingston Pumper Company #1 since 2001. He is also a NYS Emergency Medical Technician and works at Greenport, Valatie and Community Rescue Squads. Dana has also been an American Heart Association CPR Instructor since 2016. Dana is a 1989 graduate of Granville High School in Washington County. He resides in the Town of Claverack with his son, Devon.
